A Kingston teenager fleeing from a wellbeing check was involved in a serious head-on crash in Plymouth.
Authorities say that the crash happened on Plympton Road and Carver Road near the West Plymouth Square shopping center just before noon Thursday.
An SUV driven by the female had collided with a sedan operated by an adult male.
The man was trapped inside his car and was extricated by Plymouth firefighters using hydraulic tools.
He was taken by ambulance to Plymouth Airport where a Medflight helicopter flew him to a Boston trauma center with serious injuries.
Authorities say the female ran off from the crash but was located by police and transported to a local hospital for treatment.
She was arrested and is facing charges by both Kingston and Plymouth police.
Kingston police say the female’s family requested a welfare check on her. She fled in a car and was briefly pursued by police.
Officers called off the pursuit out of concern for public safety.
The incident is under investigation.
