President Joe Biden signed an Executive Order on Friday that seeks to protect access to abortion services throughout the country.
Morgan Marietta, Interim Chair of the Political Science Department at the University of Massachusetts at Lowell, tells WATD News the Executive Order is unlikely to have much of an impact on its own.
He also says the Executive Order could also face a potential Supreme Court challenge.
However, a ban imposed by some states to prevent travel to states that provide abortion services will likely get struck down.
Marietta says that the recent Roe vs. Wade ruling demonstrates a real shift in the court’s judicial philosophy.
Marietta thinks the Executive Order may also be intended as a way to mobilize Democratic voters to head to the polls and elect pro-choice legislators.
