In Plymouth, at their meeting on the 13th, the Plymouth County Commissioners approved a Fiscal Year 24 Operating Budget of just over $11 million and also approved Boston South’s plan to secure the woodlot from ATVs.
WATD’s Bobbi Clark has more…
Chair Jared Valanzola of the County Commissioners:
“Our budget for fiscal 24 proposed to be ratified by the Advisory Board will be $11.3 million, which is $1.1 million less than what our last fiscal year budget was and it’s the lowest number budget we’ve had in the last five years.”
Valanzola says the County is proud of the budget that allows a dedicated level of service:
“…the level of services that people expect at the Registry of Deeds, classes with our entomologist, as well as all of the hard work that they do at the County Farm, vehicle bid, the Byrne grant that Frank Basler does, the dredge program.”
Another topic of discussion was the use of ATVs on the County woodlot:
“We know that a lot of residents have been concerned about the use of ATV vehicles on the woodlot. Of course, the County has significant financial restrictions so we haven’t been very much able to secure that property.
But, Valanzola says:
“We’re very pleased that our tenants, Boston South Development Corporation has proposed a plan that we have approved that would secure that property and begin restricting and hopefully eliminating the use of ATV vehicles with the erection of a gate at the Raffaele Road entrance that would make access impossible for that type of use.”
