The abrupt move by the Quincy based chain of medical clinics and urgent care clinics took place on Wednesday.
Attempts to contact Compass Medical by WATD were unsuccessful.
A local listener called into the South Shore’s morning news to express sympathy for an older couple who’ve been going to Compass, and have had the same doctor for decades.
She says she’s upset, too.
Compass has six locations in East Bridgewater, Easton, Quincy, Taunton, Braintree and Middleboro.
A written statement on the Compass Medical website said in part, “It is with deepest regret and great sadness to inform you of our imminent plan to close our practices.”
