An investigation is underway after some recently discovered photos reference a member of the Scituate Public Schools Administrative staff.
A joint letter from the town’s Select Board & School Committee says that some parents sent school Superintendent Bill Burkhead two photos taken on Museum Beach depicting what appears to be a grave in the sand and a makeshift headstone with the words “In loving memory of…” and what they believe to be the misspelled name of Jamele Adams, the school department’s Director of Diversity, Education & Inclusion.
The photos were then shared with Police Chief Mark Thompson and a formal investigation has begun.
In addition the Select Board is collaborating with the Scituate Diversity, Equity and Inclusion committee to advise and work on this matter.
In the joint letter town officials condemned what they referred to as a “vile act” and that any “words or actions that threaten or demean members of our community are unacceptable, will not be tolerated, and will be addressed with appropriate consequences.”
Anyone with information on this incident is being asked to contact the Scituate Police Department.
