Crews were called to the scene of a fire at a Randolph apartment building.
Fire Chief Ronald Cassford says that shortly before 6 p.m. Sunday they got a report of a fire at a 24-unit apartment building at 27-29 Reed St.
Upon arrival firefighters saw smoke showing from the front of the first and second floors of the building as well as the building’s roofline.
All of the building’s residents had safely evacuated before first responders arrived on scene.
The fire was quickly knocked down and declared under control at approximately 7 p.m. with no injuries reported.
However, three units sustained minor to moderate damage and five residents were displaced and are being assisted by the American Red Cross of Massachusetts.
Cassford says the cause of the fire is believed to be electrical and is under investigation by the Randolph Fire Department, with assistance from the State Police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit attached to the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
