Verdicts were rendered on Friday in Norfolk Superior Court in the trial of Emanuel Lopes who was charged in the death of Weymouth Police Sgt. Michael Chesna and 77-year-old Vera Adams.
Lopes was charged with first degree murder for Chesna’s death.
He was charged with second-degree murder for the death of Adams.
Lopes was also found guilty on other charges related to the incident including assault, larceny, and leaving the scene of an accident.
This was the second trial for Lopes, with the first being declared a mistrial after the jury was unable to render a unanimous verdict.
