Not guilty pleas were entered by two people charged with operating an organized theft ring.
The Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office says that on Wednesday 35-year-old Amalia Cinca of Maryland pleaded not guilty in Wareham District Court to one count each of Larceny Over $1,200 and Organized Retail Crime.
Her alleged accomplice, a 17 year-old female, pleaded not guilty Thursday, in Brockton District Juvenile Court, to one count each of Larceny Over $1,200 and Organized Retail Crime.
The charges stem from an incident on January 7 where Wareham Police responded to the Ulta beauty store for a report of a past shoplifting incident where a store employee reported seeing four females stuff approximately five bags worth of merchandise and exit the store without payment.
The following day Waterford, Connecticut Police contacted Wareham Police who were investigating a theft at the Ulta store there.
They impounded a vehicle, allegedly used by the suspects and seized black garbage bags containing numerous items including items from the Wareham store.
Cinca and the 17-year-old were arrested January 23 by authorities at JFK International Airport in New York, as they attempted to board an airplane to Romania.
The District Attorney’s Office says two additional female suspects allegedly involved in the Ulta theft remain at large, with warrants pending for their arrest.
