A Duxbury man is accused of stealing banners from a local church.

Duxbury Police say that at around 11 a.m. Thursday they received a call from the First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church on Tremont St. reporting that a “Black Lives Matter” banner had been stolen from their front lawn overnight.

Officers were able to identify a suspect, 31-year-old Zachary Brousseau, and through use of video and other evidence were able to obtain a search warrant for his Starboard Way residence.

A search of the home uncovered a banner which had been previously reported stolen by the church in January, leading investigators to conclude that Brousseau had stolen banners from the church on two separate occasions.

Police say Brousseau will be charged in Plymouth District Court with Larceny and Destruction of Church Property.
