One person has died following a fire in Braintree.
The State Fire Marshal’s Office says that shortly before 10:30 p.m. Thursday crews were dispatched to the area of 26 McCusker Dr. following 9-1-1 calls and an alarm activation.
Upon arrival firefighters saw light smoke and made entry to a first-floor apartment, where they found heavy smoke and flames.
The sole resident of the apartment was found and pronounced dead at the scene.
It’s believed the fire started in the bedroom and crews were able to contain the fire to the apartment.
Officials say one firefighter was injured but that they did not require transport.
The other residents of the apartment complex are being assisted by the apartment building’s management company and the Red Cross of Massachusetts.
The incident and victim’s cause of death remain under investigation officials say the fire does not appear suspicious.
