A resident’s accusation of harassment against Marshfield Police Chief Phil Tavares was dismissed by the Select Board.
Hundreds of residents crowded into town hall for the hearing Monday night.
Interim Town Administrator Peter Morin tells WATD News the chief decided against an executive session and wanted the issue aired in a public meeting.
Morin says that Chief Tavares countered the resident’s harassment accusation that was reviewed by the select board.
Marshfield resident Kathy Calabrese was one of the many of supporters for the chief.
The board voted two to one not to take any action against the chief.
Steve Darcy and Trish Simpson voted in favor of no action while board chair Eric Kelly voted to go forward.
