Pembroke residents may be experiencing discolored water.

The town’s Water Department says they are currently experiencing an issue at one of their pumping stations, which may result in temporarily discolored or dirty water.

Officials say that while the water remains safe for most uses, it is recommend that users avoid doing laundry or other tasks where water clarity is important.

Those who experience water discoloration are being advised to run the outside faucet nearest to the water meter and let the water run slowly for 20 to 30 minutes.

If the water remains discolored, users are being advised to wait an hour and repeat the process.

They say crews are “actively working to resolve the situation as quickly and safely as possible.”
