In Plymouth, Cheryl Jones is not new to Plymouth but she is new to the job of Director of CAL or the Center for Active Living, and as such she serves over ten thousand seniors who are CAL members. And it seems a natural transition from her work in town as a coach and meditation teacher for folks over 55. She succeeds Michele Bratti who now serves as the town’s Commissioner of Health and Human Services.
WATD’s Bobbi Clark has more…
Cheryl Jones talks about the company called Thrive 55+Wellness, the firm she exchanged for her new role at the Center for Active Living:
“I’ve had a business in Plymouth for the last couple of years called Thrive 55 Plus Wellness, and really focusing on helping people over 55 to tend to their own personal health and well-being in all areas—and so working as a coach and a meditation teacher.”
So, similar to work as a counselor?
“Yes, and I’m not certified as a counselor, but I’m certified as a coach. And so, I would call that coaching, but you’re right, it is very similar.”
Jones talks about one of the most important elements of her job:
“The most important thing for CAL and for me in this role is to really keep my fingers on the pulse of what our community needs and we’ll learn that because we have such a strong relationship with the patrons who come here.”
And, there is large population of seniors to serve, and CAL has the programs to serve them, says Jones:
“Programming here, we have such a variety of offerings from programs and classes that support social well-being, physical fitness—all different kinds of ways to connect.
Seniors can connect at the Center for Active Living, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 44 Nook Road.
