In Plymouth, Manny Leite is Plymouth’s Library Director and he comes to town having served in that capacity for many libraries—the most recent a library in Tennessee that served an entire county of one hundred thirty thousand people. This week, at a meeting held at the library, the director heard from folks in town about what they would like to see changed or improved in the use of library space.

WATD’s Bobbi Clark has more….

Folks were quite interested in how library space is used says Director Liete…
“…and there was a huge turnout—which speaks volumes of this community, wanting to see our library succeed when it comes to our services and what we would like to see in the future. We had a moderator who does, and performs library space audits all over the country—and asked our community what they would like to see in a new library and they came back with some overwhelming responses.”

And topping the list of requests….
“….would be new meeting rooms, and we don’t have any quiet study ooms here at the library. We have little pods that can only hold up to two people but not actual meeting rooms for students to come to study after school, or for adults—that was a huge response. Having another meeting room to hold programs—not as large as the Fehlow room but not as small as our craft room, so more or a medium sized meeting room was discussed. And then also renovation of the childrens area.”

So the library space auditor, David Vinjamuri, will come back with a report…
“…on his findings and his recommendations for this library. So then it will be up to me to determine the priorities.”
