The WATD Sports team broke down each bracket and picked their Super Bowl winners on the latest Sports Exchange.
Listen to the full breakdown below, and continue reading to see where each local team is playing this weekend.
Division 1
Area teams in the field: 3 (#3 Xaverian, #13 Weymouth, #14 Brockton)
Round 1 Games
13 Weymouth at 4 Natick, Friday, 6:00
14 Brockton at 3 Xaverian, Friday, 6:00
The Skinny
St. John’s Prep (#1) and the state’s first ever 5-star quarterback recruit Chris Vargas loom as favorites in D1. Two-time defending champion Xaverian will have a tough path to repeat, with one of the state’s most explosive offenses in #2 Springfield Central sitting in their pre-Gillette path.

Division 2
Area teams in the field: 4 (#3 Bridgewater-Raynham, #7 Quincy, #9 Plymouth North, #13 North Quincy)
Round 1 Games
9 Plymouth North at 8 Wellesley, Friday, 6:00
13 North Quincy at 4 Winchester, , Friday, 6:30
10 Chelmsford at 7 Quincy, Friday, 7:00
14 Woburn at 3 Bridgewater-Raynham, Friday, 6:00
The Skinny
Many of the storylines in the D2 field feel muted by the presence of overwhelming favorites #1 Catholic Memorial. If it comes to fruition, #2 Barnstable vs #3 Bridgewater-Raynham could be one of the best semifinal matchups in the state.
Division 3
Area teams in the field: 4 (#3 Milton, #4 Hingham, #5 Marshfield, #9 Plymouth South)
Round 1 Games
9 Plymouth South at 8 Mansfield, Friday, 6:00
13 Minnechaug at 4 Hingham, Friday, 7:00
12 Malden Catholic at 5 Marshfield, Friday, 7:00
14 Reading at 3 Milton, Friday, 7:00
The Skinny
Marshfield wasn’t the only school to drop down to Division 3 this year, as #1 King Philip joined the Rams after making four consecutive trips to the Division 2 final.
KP will be the favorites in a loaded field that could otherwise produce one of the most entertaining brackets this fall.
Division 4
Area teams in the field: 4 (#1 Scituate, #3 Canton, #4 Duxbury, #15 Middleboro)
Round 1 Games
16 Tantasqua at 1 Scituate, Friday, 7:00
13 Holliston at 4 Duxbury, Friday, 7:00
14 Wakefield at 3 Canton, Friday, 7:00
15 Middleboro at 2 Tewksbury, Friday, 7:00
The Skinny
Grayson Foley’s availability for Scituate will go a long way towards determining if the defending D4 champs can repeat or not.
#2 Tewksbury looms as another monster in a very deep bracket, while Duxbury will try to keep the state’s longest title game appearance streak alive.
Division 5
Area teams in the field: 2 (#3 Hanover, #6 Archbishop Williams)
Round 1 Games
11 Swampscott at 6 Archbishop Williams, Friday, 6:00
14 Weston at 3 Hanover, Friday, 6:00
The Skinny
#1 Shawsheen Valley enters as the defending champions, while runners up and 2023 champions Foxboro sit at #2.
Both are favorites to reach Gillette again. The South Shore is guaranteed to be down to at most one team remaining by the Final Four, as Hanover and Archie’s are on a crash course for a thrilling Elite 8 matchup with plenty of extra intrigue.
Division 6
Area teams in the field: 3 (#1 Norwell, #2 Abington, #14 East Bridgewater)
Round 1 Games
16 Joseph Case at 1 Norwell, Friday, 7:00
14 EB at 3 Fairhaven, Friday, 6:30
15 Triton at 2 Abington, Friday, 7:00
The Skinny
Local eyes are affixed on the potential South Shore showdown at Gillette. Abington could well be the deepest team in this field, while Norwell’s Jack Luccarelli may be the bracket’s best player.
Defending champs Hudson (#5) and runners up Fairhaven (#3) have reloaded, and take new-look squads back into the D6 field hoping to carve out lengthy runs again.

Division 7
Area teams in the field: 4 (#1 Cohasset, #2 West Bridgewater, #8 Rockland, #11 Mashpee)
Round 1 Games
16 Leicester at 1 Cohasset
9 Tyngsborough at 8 Rockland FRI 7
14 St Bernard’s at 2 WB FRI 6
11 Mashpee at 6 Clinton FRI 7
The Skinny
A big, physical, and talented Cohasset team is hoping to return to Gillette for the first time since 2021. The lone undefeated team in the field, Amesbury (#2), poses perhaps their biggest threat to a title.
West Bridgewater should get the first crack at beating Amesbury. Other headliners include defending champs #7 Uxbridge and #4 Northbridge, who sends the state’s all-time winningest head coach Ken LaChappelle into his final trip to the playoffs before retirement.
Division 8
Area teams in the field: 1 (#4 Randolph)
Round 1 Games
13 Oxford at 4 Randolph
The Skinny
Randolph slid down the rankings in the final week of the season despite finishing the year undefeated. Fortunately, they avoided fellow undefeated Lee (#2) who dropped out of the top spot and onto the opposite side of the bracket.
Defending champions West Boylston enter as the #3 seed.
