The high school football regular season is at a close, and after nine incredible weeks of action, the WATD Sports Team has seen innumerable big-time performances.
Many local teams are poised for deep playoff runs, thanks to rosters filled with players who perform when the lights are brightest.
As we get ready for the start of the postseason, we look back at the players who lived for the big moment this year – our 17 Chick-fil-A Hanover Players of the Game.

Duxbury 52, Abington 44 (3OT)
Chick-fil-A Hanover Player of the Game: Ian McNeil, SR, Duxbury
Stat Line: 18 carries, 143 yards, 2 TD; 3 receptions, 32 yards, TD
McNeil headlined a thriller to kick off the 2025 campaign, going beyond the stat line with a pair of enormous punt returns to help Duxbury mount their comeback.
Nantucket 49, Cardinal Spellman 0
Chick-fil-A Hanover Player of the Game: Burke Lombardi, SO, Nantucket
Stat Line: 9/11, 88 yards, 2 TD
The sophomore signal caller announced himself in a game that the Whalers put out of hand early. Our lone underclassman honoree, Lombardi went on to lead Nantucket to an undefeated regular season.
Week 2
Cohasset 27, Silver Lake 14
Chick-fil-A Hanover Player of the Game: Gus Greene, SR, Cohasset
Stat Line: 25 carries, 162 yards, 3 TD; 3 receptions, 19 yards
Greene kicked off the Skippers run of three straight wins over D2, Patriot League opponents with a monster game here.

Week 3
Scituate 34, Norwell 28
Chick-fil-A Hanover Player of the Game: Jack Luccarelli, JR, Norwell
Stat Line: 4/7, 118 yards, INT; 23 carries, 229 yards, 2 TD
Luccarelli was the only player on the losing side of a game to take home the honor this season. In a game filled with star power, the junior nearly willed the Clippers to a monster upset before being picked on a last second Hail Mary.
Quincy 27, Stoughton 19
Chick-fil-A Hanover Player of the Game: Leo Steinberg, SR, Quincy
Stat Line: 8 carries, 94 yards, 2 TD; 2 receptions, 14 yards, TD; 3 interceptions, 76 yard pick-six
Steinberg couldn’t keep his hands off the ball or his feet out of the endzone in this one, piecing together one of the best two-way performances of the year.
Week 4
BC High 28, Everett 7
Chick-fil-A Hanover Player of the Game: Noah Federico, SR, BC High
Stat Line: 21 carries, 114 yards, 3 TD
In desperate need of their first win, Federico lifted the Eagles on the road with a workman like performance.
Marshfield 22, Mansfield 18
Chick-fil-A Hanover Player of the Game: Cole Summers, SR, Marshfield
Stat Line: 6 carries, 62 yards; 2 receptions, 35 yards, TD
In a game that saw great depth in contributors, the timeliness of Summers’ big plays earned him the honors in Marshfield’s big win.

Hanover 48, Pembroke 40
Chick-fil-A Hanover Player of the Game: Brandon Errico, SR, Hanover
Stat Line: 9 receptions, 164 yards, 2 TD; 2 carries, 6 yards, TD; 70 yard kick return TD
Errico has made 4 touchdown games something of a habit in his career, and the Hawks needed every one of them to thwart the Titans upset bid.
Cohasset 35, North Quincy 14
Chick-fil-A Hanover Player of the Game: Michael Wildfire, SR, Cohasset
Stat Line: 9/16, 120 yards, 3 TD, INT; 12 carries, 79 yards, TD
The third-year starting QB was efficient and on point throughout this road win, orchestrating the offense to a big win.
Londonderry 27, Duxbury 21
Chick-fil-A Hanover Player of the Game: Devin Van Avery, SR, Londonderry
Stat Line: 3 receptions, 87 yards, 2 TD; game-winning interception
The Lancers came south of the border for this one, and Van Avery earns the distinction of being the only Player of the Game from the Granite State this year. His incredible pick sealed Londonderry’s win.
Week 6
Mashpee 36, Carver 26
Chick-fil-A Hanover Player of the Game: Daniel Alade, SR, Mashpee
Stat Line: 18 carries, 184 yards, 4 TD
Alade refused to be contained, leading the Falcons fourth quarter comeback in a game that ultimately kept Carver out of the playoffs.
Abington 21, Norwell 14
Chick-fil-A Hanover Player of the Game: Ryan Solimini, SR, Abington
Stat Line: 16 carries, 84 yards, 3 TD
For an offense that has 10-12 guys who can score on a given night, the biggest nod to the internal belief in Solimini is that he was given the rock to punch in every score in Abington’s biggest game of the season.
Week 7
Hanover 27, Plymouth South 7
Chick-fil-A Hanover Player of the Game: Sebastian Brown, SR, Hanover
Stat Line: 7 receptions, 165 yards, 2 TD
Two of the more impressive catches we’ve seen all season were reeled in by Brown in this one, including a one-hander in the endzone to help put this game out of reach.

Week 8
Abington 32, Rockland 7
Chick-fil-A Hanover Player of the Game: Jack Reilly, SR, Abington
Stat Line: 12/14, 200 yards, TD; 3 carries, 15 yards
Reilly was uber-efficient in this one, displaying the potent passing skill that makes Abington a different beast this season.
Norwell 35, Middleboro 0
Chick-fil-A Hanover Player of the Game: Jack Luccarelli, JR, Norwell
Stat Line: 3/5, 39 yards; 9 carries, 189 yards, 4 TD
The only player to earn the honor twice this season, Luccarelli had another monster game against the Sachems as Norwell cruised on senior night.
Week 9
Scituate 21, Hanover 7
Chick-fil-A Hanover Player of the Game: Chris DiMeo, SR, Scituate
Stat Line: 2 interceptions, pick-six
DiMeo was the only defense-only player to earn the honor this year, thanks in large part to a pick six that stood as the game winner. In addition to the two interceptions, the senior had a bevy of big tackles in this one.
Hingham 40, Silver Lake 7
Chick-fil-A Hanover Player of the Game: JT Reale, JR, Hingham
Stat Line: 2 carries, 114 yards, 2 TD; 2 receptions, 44 yards, TD
Reale showed why he’s one of the most talented athletes in the area in our regular season finale. His 92-yard touchdown rush will stand as one of the best individual plays we saw all season.
