A Whitman circus coach convicted of assaulting a former student has been found dead.

The Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office says that 48-year-old Steven A. Santos was convicted on five counts of Indecent Assault and Battery, 14 or Older and one count of a lesser included offense of Assault and Battery.

He was acquitted on one count of Assault and Battery.

Santos was released on a GPS monitoring bracelet with home confinement until his sentencing.

The District Attorney’s Office says that on March 19, they were contacted by Whitman Police regarding the unattended death of a 48-year-old man, who was later identified as Santos.

The state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner accepted jurisdiction, and will determine cause and manner of death but the District Attorney’s Office says foul play is not suspected.

A hearing related to the case is scheduled to take place at 10 a.m. Thursday in Brockton Superior Court.
