Man with Knife Shot by Weymouth Police Identified

Officers Shoot Man with Knife at Webb State Park

 

The man who died after a police involved shooting in Weymouth has been identified.

The Norfolk County District Attorney’s office identified the man as 25-year-old Sean Barry of Weymouth.

The incident happened at Webb State Park on River Street in North Weymouth around 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Authorities say that Weymouth police responded to the park for a report of a man in distress.

When officers arrived, they found the man with a knife in the restroom.

WCVB channel 5 reports a source told them that officers shot the man when he lunged at them with the knife.

Officers immediately rendered medical aid.

He was taken to South Shore Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The incident continues to be investigated by the State Police and the Norfolk County District Attorney.
