Six witnesses testified during the murder trial of Michael Hand at the Plymouth Superior Court in Brockton.

Hand is accused of murdering 15-year-old Tracy Gilpin of Kingston by allegedly dropping a 73 pound rock in her head in 1986.

He pleaded not guilty.

The prosecution and defense asked each witness about the last time they saw Gilpin.

Monica Silva, a friend of Tracy’s, testified that she saw her on October 1st, 1986, the night she went missing.

Silva said she saw Gilpin alone on the street that night after 10 pm when she was with Allan Thomas, Tracy’s ex-boyfriend. Silva said that Gilpin attempted to flag down Thomas in his car but that he kept driving.

Thomas, Silva and other witnesses testified to knowing Michael Hand, who’s father Arthur was the Deputy Principal at Silver Lake Regional High School. They said he would hang out at the same local beach as them during the summer, but that he was not close to their group of friends.

Other questions revolved around the clothes the witnesses remember Gilpin wearing that night, A jean jacket, jeans and a pink shirt. And the appearance of Michael Hand at the time, a 29-year-old man of a larger build.

The jury was also shown pictures of the crime scene, along with the alleged murder weapon.

The case is being overseen by Judge Katie Rayburn.

Hand is represented by Paul Lonardo-Roy and Craig Taveraz.

The prosecution is headed by Plymouth County District Attorneys Shannon Buckingham and Jennifer Sprague.

The trial is continuing this week with a visit the crime site on Tuesday.
