Charges have been filed against a man accused of fatally shooting two people at a Carver social club.
The Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office says a grand jury indicted 23-year-old Nicholas Meuse on two counts each of Murder and Armed Assault to Murder.
The incident occurred on January 24 when the Carver Police Department received reports that multiple people had been shot at the Saint John the Baptist Club at 53 Silva Street, where a child’s birthday party was being held.
Officers arrived on scene and found four victims.
One of the victims, 27-year-old Benjamin Cowart was pronounced dead at the scene, while 20-year-old Jalen Pina was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth where he succumbed to his injuries.
The other two victims were identified as a 28-year-old male victim was transported to Tufts Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries and a 32-year-old male victim who was taken to South Shore Hospital for treatment.
The District Attorney’s office says Meuse was apprehended in the woods near to where the shooting took place shortly after the incident.
It was determined that Meuse called 9-1-1 following the incident and told dispatchers that he was the shooter.
He also told law enforcement that a relative invited him to the party but he had preexisting conflicts with some of the attendees.
