A Weymouth man is facing charges in connection with a fatal boat collision in 2024.

The Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office says that on the afternoon of August 16 crews responded to a boat crash between a 38-foot Sea Ray Sundancer 380 motorboat and a 21-foot Pisces Sailboat in the waters near Grape Island and the Weymouth Fore River.

The male and female occupants of the boat were taken to area hospitals in critical condition.

One of those occupants, 70-year-old Patricia Cicalese, succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased on September 7.

The District Attorney’s Office says that 64-year-old John Reichardt was indicted by a grand jury following an investigation and he was arraigned Wednesday in Dedham Superior Court on two counts of Assault and Battery Causing Serious Bodily Injury and one count of Boat Homicide by Negligent Operation.

Reichardt was released on personal recognizance and ordered not to commit any new crimes while on release.

He is next scheduled to appear in court on June 23.

The Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office says they became involved after a conflict was asserted by the Norfolk District Attorney’s Office.
