Violators Face Fines
Hanover officials have imposed a water ban in town.
Restrictions on outdoor watering are in effect starting today (Wednesday).
Officials are asking residents to turn off irrigation systems and reduce non-essential water use.
Officials said that the ongoing drought has resulted in the town’s water storage tanks to be at a critically low level, the lowest they have been in 15 years.
Officials also say that water use is outpacing the ability to supply water and that pumps are running twenty-four-seven, increasing the possibility of equipment failure.
Hanover water officials said they would be monitoring irrigation use and violators will be fined and addresses will be posted on the town website.
If conservation goals are not met, officials said that additional restrictions or mandatory measures may be necessary in the future.
