Stoughton’s Police Chief is no longer on the job.
Leah Barrault, an attorney for Donna McNamara, released a statement to WATD News saying that, then Police Chief Donna McNamara, filed a formal harassment complaint with the Stoughton Select Board against Town Manager Thomas Calter, accusing him of “engaging in a pattern of gossip and disparagement against” McNamara and constantly calling and texting her on her cell phone.
Barrault says the town then released a false statement saying McNamara voluntarily stepped down, and that an Acting Police Chief had been named.
She also says that Calter engaged in “a campaign to assassinate the well-earned reputation of Chief McNamara.”
Reports say that Deputy Chief James O’Connor has been named acting chief.
WATD News reached out to the Stoughton Police Department for comment and were referred to the Town Manager, who we also reached out to, but haven’t yet heard back.
