A daycare center operator is being charged with child abuse.

Kingston Police say 51-year-old Karen Rezendes turned herself in to Plymouth District Court after a warrant was sought for her arrest.

A multi-week investigation alleges that Rezendes who ran an in-home daycare center known as “Oh Nana’s Daycare” was physically abusing multiple children attending the daycare.

Among the allegations Rezendes is accused of violently shoving a child to the ground, striking a child with kitchen accessories, slamming a child against a counter, and locking a child in the attic.

Police say the in-home daycare center is no longer licensed following investigations by the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families and the Department of Early Education and Care.

Parents who had children in the school and believe they may have been abused are being asked to contact Detective Zachary Francis, at [email protected] or 781-585-0523 ext. 6649.
