Person Killed by Train in East Bridgewater

Investigation Underway

 

A person was struck and killed by a commuter train in East Bridgewater Wednesday morning.

The incident happened on West Street, Route 106, near the East Bridgewater, West Bridgewater line just before noon.

East Bridgewater Police Chief Michael Jenkins and West Bridgewater Police Chief Timothy Nixon issued the following joint statement:

“Today, members of the East Bridgewater and West Bridgewater Police and Fire Departments responded to a tragic incident involving a pedestrian and a commuter train. Despite the rapid response, the incident resulted in a fatality.

“This incident is being investigated in coordination with the MBTA Transit Police and other appropriate investigative authorities. Out of respect for the family involved and the ongoing investigation, no additional identifying information will be released at this time.

“This is a deeply difficult and traumatic incident for all, including our first responders who were on scene and continue to process what occurred. We extend our sincere and heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased during this profoundly difficult time.

“We ask for the public’s understanding, patience, and compassion for the family, as well as for the emergency personnel who responded and continue to manage the emotional impact of this event.”
