Selectboard Incumbent Unseated
Whitman voters rejected two overrides in Saturday’s election.
The town’s share of funding the construction cost of the South Shore Technical School building was defeated, 711 to 618.
Voters also turned down the proposed operating budget override, 899 to 425.
In the only contested race, selectboard incumbent Laura Howe was unseated.
Newcomers Dawn Byers and Christina Gorman were elected to fill two seats on the select board.
Byers was the top vote getter with 888, Gorman was second with 712, and Howe who received 574 votes.
