Non-Binding Ballot Questions Defeated
The Norwell school committee has two new members.
Jana McCarthy and Elizabeth Bersell won the three-way race for two seats in Saturday’s election.
McCarthy was the top vote getter with 1,014, while Bersell received 963.
They fended off challenger Kara Vautour who received 359.
The other races were uncontested including the select board.
Incumbent Brian Greenberg was reelected to a three-year term.
Voters rejected two non-binding ballot questions.
A proposal to eliminate the three percent community preservation act property surcharge that is currently applied to property tax bills was defeated 741 to 453.
And voters rejected reducing the three percent community preservation act property tax surcharge by 504 to 409.
