A judge has ruled that a man charged with a deadly crash at the Derby Street Shoppes Apple Store in Hingham is competent to stand trial.
Fifty-seven-year-old Bradley Rein (Rain) of Hingham is facing charges of second degree-murder, reckless operation, and 18 counts of aggravated assault with a dangerous weapon.
The crash that occurred just days before Thanksgiving in 2022 killed one person and injured 22 others.
At a hearing last week, Rein’s attorney says his client has been suffering from memory loss but a clinician said that an evaluation found no issues.
Authorities say that Rein drove his SUV through the front of the store striking nearly two dozen people.
Rein told police that his vehicle accelerated and he was unable to stop it.
He remains out on bail with a GPS monitor. His trial is set for January.
Rein is due back in court on October 14th where his attorney will ask for a change of venue.
