Duxbury officials are ramping up enforcement to protect the snowy owls on Duxbury Beach.
Over the past few weeks people have been posting photos on social media of the snowy owls that have been on Duxbury Beach since November.
The problem is folks are getting too close to the birds, trampling over dunes and sea grass to get a better shot.
Duxbury Town Manager Rene Read says patrols have been stepped up to warn the bird watchers to keep their distance.
Duxbury Selectwoman Amy McNabb says approaching the owls could potentially jeopardize the beach permit for everyone.
The Duxbury beach reservation is planning on posting new signage on what rules need to be followed regarding snowy owls.
The snowy owls migrate every year over 400 miles from the arctic and return to the frozen tundra in April.
