Plymouth Select Board member Sheilag Joyce abruptly, and with no explanation, resigned three days after the annual town election. Last week, the remaining four select board members agreed to call a special election to fill the year remaining in her term. Tuesday, they heard town clerk Pearl Sears warn that an election held in the summer would guarantee low turnout. They voted to call an election Saturday, August 14th. Nomination papers become available tomorrow. Several potential candidates have already emerged.
