There won’t be as much noise from planes flying over Hull.
The Federal Aviation Administration announced they have implemented two air traffic procedure changes for Boston Logan International Airport that will reduce aircraft overflight noise.
The first change, which went into effect Thursday, moves aircraft departing on Runway 15-Right further north away from densely populated areas near Hull a procedure pilots can use seven days a week during evening and daytime hours.
The procedures were requested by both the Massachusetts Port Authority and the Massport Community Advisory Committee.
The second change, which will be implemented on December 30, moves aircraft on approach to Runway 33-Left out over the water and away from densely populated areas near Hull.
This is also a procedure pilots can use seven days a week during both daytime and evening hours.
The changes are part of a Memorandum of Understanding between the FAA and Massport which was signed in 2016 and established a framework “to explore and evaluate possible changes to satellite-based air traffic procedures at Boston Logan International Airport to reduce the impact from aircraft overflight noise.”
