Gary Lee Sampson, who was convicted in the killing of a Kingston college student, has died.
The Federal Bureau of Prisons confirmed that the 62-year-old Sampson died on Tuesday with no information available regarding cause of death.
Sampson was convicted for a 2001 killing spree that began when he carjacked Jonathan Rizzo, and Philip McCloskey, a retired pipefitter from Taunton, stabbing each of them multiple times and leaving them to die in the woods.
He received a separate life sentence for killing a third man, Robert “Eli” Whitney, in New Hampshire.
