Senator Malcolm Byrne praised the resilience the state showed during one of the region’s darkest moments.
Healey, one of the first two openly lesbian elected governors in the U.S., and a descendant of Irish immigrants, was invited to Ireland to help commemorate the 30th anniversary of the country’s decriminalization of homosexuality.
