A sentence has been handed down for a Plymouth man who fired at police.
The Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office says that 42-year-old Michael Walsh pleaded guilty to charges including of Armed Assault to Murder and Assault with a Dangerous Weapon.
The charges stem from an incident that occurred on the evening of August 26th, 2018. When Plymouth Police received a call in which a female victim reported that Walsh had been abusive and that she left the home with a minor family member.
The victim told police that Walsh fired several shots at the car, striking it twice, after which the victim called 911.
Officers arrived at the scene at which time Walsh exited the front door and fired one shot at police before running back inside.
He then exited the house again moments later and fired several rounds at five Plymouth Police Officers.
Officers returned fire and struck Walsh as he ran through the backyard.
First aid was administered at the scene before Walsh was medflighted to Massachusetts General Hospital.
Walsh was sentenced to serve 5 to 7 years in state prison, followed by two years of probation.
