A historic property on Spear St. in Quincy was recently purchased by the city to create workforce housing.
The city’s Housing Program Manager, Xue Sherry Zhou, says it was purchased through the Affordable Housing Trust Fund and is one of many similar endeavors.
She says this program also provides other dividends.
Mayor Thomas Koch echoed that sentiment saying it will enable the city to achieve two goals.
Koch says they plan to work with other partners to make this an affordable option for Quincy residents.
Officials say that once completed the site will have between 8 to 13 units.
