The Marshfield Select Board has selected a new acting Fire Chief during their meeting on Friday.
Town Administrator Michael Maresco outlined what he believed Hocking’s role would be.
Vice-Chair Lynne Fidler wanted to revisit the issue at a future meeting.
Hocking will be replacing Jeff Simpson after the board voted earlier this month to not renew Simpson’s contract.
Maresco released a joint statement on Wednesday stating, “The Town of Marshfield has entered into a mutual agreement with Fire Chief Jeff Simpson to resolve his employment status. The Town of Marshfield, the Select Board and the Town Administrator would like to thank Chief Simpson for his dedicated service to the Town as Fire Chief. Chief Simpson would like to offer his appreciation to the men and women of the Marshfield Fire Department, who he is honored to have served alongside during his time in Marshfield.”
