A mosquito from Bridgewater tested positive for EEE.

Town Manager Justin Casanova-Davis and Health Agent Eric Badger says they were notified by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health on Wednesday that a mosquito collected on July 22 tested positive for Eastern Equine Encephalitis.

Officials say that, at this time, there have been no reported human or animal cases of EEE in Bridgewater or Massachusetts this year and that Bridgewater and most of southeastern Massachusetts is at a low risk for EEE and West Nile Virus.

Both the town and DPH say they are working in “close collaboration.”
