Criminal complaints have been filed against a man who authorities say shot at Brockton police.
Forty-four-year-old Jailson Andrade of Brockton is facing a host of charges including two counts of assault to murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, unlawful carrying a firearm, receiving a firearm with a defaced serial number, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, and several motor vehicle violations.
Plymouth County District Attorney Tim Cruz says that on Sunday morning at about 2:15, officers on patrol began pursuing a Lexus SUV.
The vehicle spun out at the intersection of Moraine and Spring streets.
Authorities say that the driver, identified as Andrade, got out and immediately began shooting over the roof of the SUV at the two police officers who exited their cruiser.
Officers returned fire and struck Andrade in the shoulder.
During the exchange of gunfire, a bullet pierced a home and grazed the arm of a 71-year-old man.
Both the man and Andrade were taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Police say they found a handgun on the ground near Andrade with an obliterated serial number.
Andrade remains hospitalized and will be arraigned at a later date.
