Bail Set at $2,500, Ordered Not to Use Public Restrooms
A Marshfield man accused of secretly video recording people in a restroom at the Pratt Library in Cohasset was arraigned in Quincy District Court on Friday.
Sixty-three-year-old Thomas Campbell is charged with illegal wiretapping and video recording individuals in a state of nudity without consent.
Bail was set at $2,500 and he was ordered to stay away from the library, the two victims, and anyone under the age of 18, and not use a public restroom in Norfolk County.
His next court date is scheduled for April 16.
Police Chief William Quigley says that a library staff member located a hidden recording device inside a unisex restroom and immediately notified police.
Detectives secured the device and through a forensic exam, found it contained video and audio recordings of individuals using the restroom without their knowledge.
Police identified Campbell as the suspect and was arrested.
Chief Quigley said that the investigation remains active and should any additional files be discovered or any further victims identified, appropriate notifications will be made.
He commended the library staff’s quick work and said that video surveillance systems play a critical role in protecting the public and solving crimes.
