Two people sustained gunshot wounds following a police chase in Brockton.

The Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office says that at approximately 2:15 a.m. Sunday there was a motor vehicle pursuit of a 2025 white Lexus, which ended when the motor vehicle spun out at the intersection of Moraine St. and Spring St.

The DA’s office says the driver, identified only as a 44-year-old man, exited the vehicle and began shooting at the two Brockton Police officers over the roof of his car.

The officers exited the cruiser and returned fire and the man was struck once in the shoulder.

A 71-year-old man sleeping in a home nearby on Moraine St. was grazed in the arm by a round, during the shootout.

Both men were transported to Boston Medical Center – South (Brockton), with non-life threatening injuries and the driver was then transported to a Boston hospital for further treatment.

The two officers were taken to South Shore Hospital as a precaution.

The DA’s office says that officers found a handgun with an obliterated serial number that was recovered from the operator of the Lexus.

The incident remains under investigation.
