A guilty plea was entered by a woman charged in connection with a Weymouth homicide.
The Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office says that 46-year-old Kelly Shaw pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and was sentenced to 15 to 17 years in prison.
Kelly and her boyfriend, 45-year-old John Harper, were both considered “persons of interest” in the death of Christine Mello whose body was found inside her Lake St. home in 2024.
Shaw claimed she killed Mello in self-defense after being attacked.
The District Attorney’s Office says that Kelly also pleaded guilty to larceny of a motor vehicle, larceny over $1,200 and misleading police and was sentenced to three years’ probation after she completes her prison term.
Harper was indicted on motor vehicle larceny and larceny over $1,200, but he was never charged with homicide.
He is scheduled to return to court for a hearing on May 13.
