A Haverhill man is accused of installing an illegal recording device.
Halifax Police say an investigation began after a hidden recording device was found in a local residence.
The device was analyzed by the Plymouth County Sheriff Department’s High-Tech Evidence Analysis Team Lab.
Based on the evidence secured from that analysis a search warrant was obtained for a phone belonging to 37-year-old Brendan Traub.
Traub’s cellphone was also seized and sent to the same lab for analysis after which Traub was identified as a suspect.
He was then arrested and held on $50,000 cash bail at the Haverhill Police Department before being transported to Plymouth District Court on Friday where he was arraigned on multiple counts of Photographing, Videotaping or Electronically Surveilling Partially Nude or Nude Person(s) and Illegal Wiretapping.
Traub was released on personal recognizance.
Halifax Police say at least seven adult victims have been identified and notified.
Police say this an active investigation and additional charges may be forthcoming.
