Drinking Water is Now Safe
Officials on Saturday lifted the boil water order after the latest tests confirmed that the town’s drinking water is now safe to use and meets safety standards.
A boil water order was issued Wednesday after E-coli was detected in a water sample.
E-coli can cause illness particularly for those with weakened immune systems.
Residents were advised to boil the tap water before using for cooking, brushing teeth, and washing dishes.
Since the tap water is now safe, Norwell officials are urging residents and businesses to flush water lines.
All interior and exterior water faucets and showers should be run for at least a minute.
Hot water faucets should be run 15 to 30 minutes to flush the hot water heater tank.
Water dispensers should be flushed with a quart of water.
Dishwashers should be run empty for a cycle.
Water treatment units should be flushed and sanitized.
