Update: The Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office has confirmed that the pilot has died but their name has not yet been released.
A pilot was seriously injured today (Thursday) when a small plane crashed into Curlew Pond in the Myles Standish State Forest in Plymouth.
The fixed-wing plane crashed into Curlew Pond on near Plymouth Municipal Airport after 7:30 a.m. this morning.
Witness reported hearing a possible issue with the engine and then saw the plane upside down with it’s wheels in the air.
Plymouth Fire officials report that the pilot was the only person onboard the plane. The pilot was recovered from the water with the assistance from the Plymouth County Dive Team and taken to an area hospital. The condition of the pilot is not known at this time.
The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board are investigating.
