Shore Shore Towns Hold Candlelight Vigils

Several South Shore towns are holding candlelight vigils to remember those lost to substance overdose as part of International Overdose Awareness Day.

Tonight (Wednesday) Cohasset is holding a vigil at six-thirty on the Cohasset Common hosted by Safe Harbor Cohasset Coalition and the Anchor of Hull. 

Also tonight, a vigil will be held in Quincy on the Hancock-Adams Common in front of city hall beginning at seven.

In Bridgwater tonight, the Mercy Street and Trinity Episcopal Church at 91 Main Street is hosting a vigil at six thirty. 

At dusk, 264 luminaries will line the church walkways representing the 264 lives lost in Plymouth County to substance overdose. 

Tomorrow night, (Thursday) Marshfield will hold its vigil beginning at six-fifteen at Harbor Park on Town Pier Road. 

Attendees are asked to bring a small picture of a loved one to display on the candle table. The event is being hosted by Marshfield Facts.

In Weymouth, a vigil will be held tomorrow night at 6:30 at Brad Hawes Park on Lakehurst Avenue.

On Sunday, Scituate Facts and South Shore Peer Recovery will host a sunrise service at Scituate Lighthouse. There will be coffee and resources in the parking prior to the ceremony at five-thirty before the five-forty-five service on the jetty.
