Plymouth River Elementary School in Hingham was evacuated Thursday after concerns of the roof collapsing due to heavy snow.
Town officials said that roofing specialists were called after concerns that a section of the roof near the cafeteria showed signs of stress and possible structural failure.
As a precaution, students and staff were bused to Hingham High school to continue their classes for the day.
School officials say that the roof will be cleared of snow during the day on Friday.
Heavy equipment including a crane was called to the scene to help remove the snow from the roof.
Plymouth River students will be relocated to the Foster Elementary School for Friday where their classes will be held.
To accommodate the students, some of the Foster School classrooms will be split and paired, while other classes may be held in the cafeteria or multi-purpose room.
