Plymouth is mourning the loss of Town Clerk Pearl Sears.

In a statement, Town Manager Derek Brindisi said Sears passed away “unexpectedly” on Friday, March 25.

He wrote that Sears was the first female Town Clerk in Plymouth’s 400-year history when she was appointed to the position in 2020.

She started her career in Plymouth in 2004 as a Census Data Clerk, and quickly rose through the ranks.

A memorial service will take place at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Town Square, with a ringing of the bell.
