In Plymouth, the Community Preservation Committee, or CPC, at their meeting on the 27th, reviewed articles for Fall Town Meeting. Among them, an application from Pilgrim Hall Museum for CPA funds for over $3 million.

WATD’s Bobbi Clark has more…

Bill Keohan, who chairs the CPC, says they did take up two applications to purchase land…

“…one, buying land out on Billington Street that protects our water resources. We also looked at a piece of land that’s on Rocky Hill Road, a waterfront property. Those articles were voted on; they’ll go to fall Town Meeting.”

 And, the Committee examined paying down…

“…some of the borrowing for Stephen’s Field—we’re looking at that as a priority.”

The CPC recognizes that there is an affordable housing crisis in town and statewide. And, concerning affordable housing in Plymouth, the Committee considered;

“…an application from Habitat for Humanity, for affordable housing; we’ll be recommending that to fall Town Meeting, at a cost of $100,000. We’ll recommend two units in Manomet. We’re also looking at an additional housing application from the Plymouth Housing Authority, for $380,000.”

And, Keohan says, Pilgrim Hall Museum…

“… has applied for $3.2 million. They have a roof they have to repair. They have lighting issues. They have climate control issues throughout the building and they are applying for money from the CPA to address those issues.”

The CPC meets next on August 3rd at Town Hall at 6 p.m.
