A guilty plea was entered by a former employee of the Norfolk County Sheriff’s Office.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office says that 54-year-old Thomas Brady pleaded guilty to one count of witness tampering and one count of use of interstate facilities to commit bribery and extortion.
Brady served as the Assistant Deputy Superintendent for Jail Operations from 2021 through May 2023 when he was appointed to Assistant Superintendent.
The U.S. Attorney says Brady utilized his official position and authority to have maintenance officers make repairs at his residence during and after work hours.
He also allegedly forged a signature of a maintenance officer in a letter to the State Ethics Commission that divulged information about a confidential, internal investigation into another maintenance officer.
An investigation determined that fingerprints on the letter and DNA on the stamp belonged to Brady.
Sentencing in the case is scheduled for September 28.
