It was a Sunday full of intrigue in the 2025 MIAA Baseball Tournament.
Five South Shore teams battled for spots in the Final Four, and in the end, three area teams pushed through.
Braintree continued it’s impressive run through Division 1 with a shutout victory over Natick.
Sophomore Luke Joyce dazzled, picking up his fourth complete-game shutout of the season, scattering six hits and a walk across seven innings.
The Wamps got just enough offense to advance with a 2-0 win. Senior Sean Canavan drove in the winning run on a double, and junior Max King drove in an insurance run.
Plymouth North is still hot on the trail of a second straight Division 2 title. The Eagles dispatched Westwood 6-3 Sunday night in a back-and-forth affair.
Jake Novak had the big hit for the Eagles, a two-run homer to open the scoring. Rhys Adair tacked on a pair of RBI with two doubles.
On the mound, it was another solid outing, as Danny Kenney threw a complete game, striking out eight Wolverines in the win.

Perhaps the best matchup of the weekend came in the Division 3 quarterfinals. Norwell and Sandwich, co-champions of the South Shore League, met for a third time this season.
Each of the first two meetings had been decided by a run, with the road team winning both matchups.
Once again, the two league rivals played down to the wire.
Scoreless after seven innings, the Clippers and Blue Knights needed extra innings to mete out who would claim the spot in the Final Four.
Each team was limited to just a single hit in the game, but in the end, it was a costly error by Norwell that made the difference.
Cam Hohmann gave the Clippers 7.2 innings, striking out eight. In the top of the eighth, though, a key error allowed Sandwich’s Carter Lodge to come around and score the game’s only run.
Now, all three winners ready for the Final Four. Check out when each of the remaining local teams will be playing this week.
